FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I prepare for my services? Exfoliate your skin and follow with a hydrating moisturizer the night before. In the morning, follow your usual skin routine. Don't apply cream with SPF. Hair should be clean and dry. Do a double shampoo and condition mid-length to ends. Do not wax closer that 4 days before as make up doesn't adhere to freshly waxed skin.

Q: What kind of hair and makeup products do you use on your clients? I tend to use a wide variety of professional quality products. For hair styling some of my favorite products are from Kenra, It's a 10, and Aquage. My makeup collection is very eclectic - I use a lot of Make Up For Ever products, Urban Decay, MAC, and Smashbox among others but I like to try out a wide variety of products before settling down on my favs. I also have some drugstore products but they generally aren't as long-lasting as professional products so I tend to have fewer of them in my professional kit. I am also a big believer in good makeup brushes - there are many great ones at every price point, but some of my favorites have come from Sigma (Sigmabeauty.com).

Q: How do I secure your services and how early should I book? For weddings and events I suggest that you book as early as you can, at least a few months prior for weddings. Summers are a very busy time and since most weddings happen on Saturdays you want to make sure to secure the stylist you want as soon as you can! But cancellations happen so please do check my availability even if your event is tomorrow! For other services (hair styling, for example) I tend to have more flexibility during the work week. You can contact me via the "Contact" tab at the top of this page.

Q: How many people can you style? Generally speaking, I like to book no more than eight services people if I am working by myself, less if the wedding starts earlier in the day. For larger parties, I like to work with other stylist/s - sometimes I can bring another stylist with me, but some brides also book a separate hair stylist for their party. I can also recommend local vendors if you're looking for someone! Please send me an email and we can help you assemble the best team to make your special day perfect!

Q: Do you travel for hair and makeup services? Absolutely! I am a freelancer and don't work in a studio, so I actually travel for all of my appointments! Travel is free within 10 miles of Orono (so if you live in towns like Bangor, Brewer, Veazie, and Old Town you are covered), and I charge a standard travel fee after that. I am available to travel into further locations as well (even out of state) but I do require a $400 minimum for locations further than 30 miles from Orono, ME.

Q: What is included in the bridal hair and makeup package? My bridal hair and makeup package includes a trial session for both hair and makeup during which we decide on your wedding hair and makeup style, as well as hair and makeup on the day of. Travel is charged separately for both occasions. For your trial, you are welcome to come to my photo studio in downtown Bangor, ME (which saves you money on travel!)

Q: When and how do I pay for my services? Regular appointments are simple - you can pay with cash (preferred) or check at the end of our appointment. If you want to pay with credit card do let me know beforehand but I can handle that as well (I use Square). For weddings I require 50% of the full amount due (including travel) to secure your date, especially during the busy Summer season. The remainder is due before the services are rendered on the day of your wedding or event. If there are multiple payees (like bridesmaids) please have someone collect the money beforehand so we can start getting everyone ready as soon as we can!
